As is often the case, I want to slap the person you have encountered and write about with such deft and humorous and forgiving skill.

Ugh, I’m sorry you had to meet her. I have met versions of her and so has my daughter: “What’s holding her back? Tell her you need to be a grandmother!” “Well, she weirdly likes to make decisions about her own life. PLUS SHE HAD TO HAVE BOTH FALLOPIAN TUBES REMOVED AFTER TWO ECTOPIC PREGNANCIES. YOU TACTLESS IDIOT”.

Ah, the old "Here's what you need to say to them" speech. I once had a visitor to my home regale me for some twenty minutes with the many things I "had to say" to Mr. Los Angeles about a minor behavioral issue of his that I myself had long ago accepted, along with the ... let's call it manly determination ... of his character which does not lend itself to easy persuasion, until at last I snapped and said, "Well, why don't YOU say this to him yourself?" At which she actually looked hurt! More seriously, I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter, how very sad for her. Please give her a huge hug and heartfelt fellow feelings from me.

So, you have run into this woman too?

This was a fast paced good read

I think we've most of us met this women in one incarnation or another, Stephanie. I'm glad you enjoyed reading about her from a distance!

How foul

I’m surprised you listened for so long

What an awful woman

I think we all know someone like her

Sending love

But the funny thing, is she's not by any means awful in general, Angela, she's otherwise very nice. I'm always fascinated by how some people do seem oblivious to the reactions of others ... possibly because I sometimes wonder if I might just be one of them myself, in which case you really wouldn't know, would you? Yikes ...

Ah, Job's comforters are alive and well.

Some peoplee's inability to read the room is simply mind-boggling.

Job's comforters is an expression I haven't heard for years, Bren! Years ago, a priest once gave me the Book of Job to help me through a tough time I was having, and I found it the most appalling cop-out because after Job had believed sufficiently, God gave him back everything he'd lost, which - just as a note, Your Omniscient Almightyship - He's not generally known to do in real life. As for some people's inability to read the room ... please check my comment above to Angela Patrick! Glad you enjoyed the piece anyway ...
